Wakame has made a version of Serenade in Spanish, the legendary Dover song from their successful album Devil came to me.

For the first time, its original composers, Cristina and Amparo Llanos, authorize a version of their hit in Spanish, also with a very personal touch. The song has been recorded and mastered at El Castillo Alemán, again with Carlos Hernández (Viva Sweden, Carolina Durante…) on production.

Wakame is the ambitious musical project of Murcians Toni Bastida, Lolo Walls, Álvaro Sánchez and Lex Serrano, born at the beginning of 2022 to give shape to a solid proposal of rock intensities with pop melodies, since their music draws on the alternative rock of bands like Placebo, Interpol or The Killers, among others.

Carlos Hernández (producer of Viva Sweden, Carolina Durante, Los Planetas, etc.) was in charge of his first work: Revolución Industrial, a work of 8 songs where songs like Carrie White stand out, with the special collaboration of Rafa Val (Viva Sweden ).

Just a few weeks ago, the group broke its silence with the release of Shinkansen, an accelerated first single that announced their next EP, for which they have once again hired Carlos Hernández for production. Now they show us their second single Serenade, which together with two more songs will make up that EP that is announced for after the summer.

About Serenade, Wakame themselves tell us: “We had been considering making a version for several months without finding a song that really excited us. One night after a concert, the four of us were in one of our favorite Murcia night spots and Serenade came on. I remember the four of us looking at each other thinking the same thing. We saw a wonderful opportunity to bring it to our present so many years later. From the first moment we knew it wouldn't be easy. For us it is an anthem of the 90s and paying it the tribute it deserves has been a real handicap. Versioning in Spanish has been another twist and a titanic task, being aware that it was a risky bet that could trigger both love and rejection on the part of the most conservative listener. We have been extremely respectful and careful with the preservation of the original message and rhyme, taking into account that it is practically impossible to make a literal translation of the lyrics. So deep in such a garden, it didn't matter if we modified the structure of the song a little, so we decided to take it to our field and add a couple of parts that we thought would work very well live. All in all, we are very happy with the result.”

We have recently been able to see them in concert at the legendary El Sol hall in Madrid, accompanying Vaho in a double sold out that left no one indifferent. Multiple fragments of this live show were captured by Diego Lázaro (Visuala) to create the grayscale video clip that accompanies the release of Serenade.
