We are waiting to see whether the different measures taken by the governments, European there and central and regional here, serve or not to avoid the feared third wave of Covid-19.
A third wave that all experts warn will be even harsher and crueler than the previous two.
Focusing on our country, many doubts arise as to whether the measures that are being taken, especially for next Christmas, take into account the recommendations of the experts or not.
Considering among these both epidemiologists and scientists, as well as those health sectors that fight on the front line against the virus. From hospital emergency managers, to those who work in ICUs, primary care, DYA, internal medicine, nursing workers, etc.
People like César Carballo, Julio Mayol, José Antonio López, Josep Corbella, Fernando Sebastián and many others.
All of them are warning time and time again that the measures being taken will not serve to prevent the arrival of this tsunami. That they should be much more forceful, as they are certainly doing in other countries such as France, Italy or Germany.
Why don't those in charge of our different governments, from the state to the regional governments, listen to them? Are they really that inept? Are they absolutely stupid, or deaf and blind?
Because if that were the case, I think the most logical thing would be for them to leave as quickly as possible to avoid further risks.
The problem in this case is that making a mistake has irreparable consequences in many cases. Much more suffering, hospital admissions, ICU, and even death.
All this because those who should work to prevent it, to protect us, fail in this essential function.
The question that arises is whether this error produced by turning a deaf ear to what those who know recommend, could be due to economic, political, image interests, or to their profound irresponsible ineptitude.
In both cases it will bring very serious consequences, so we should now think about asking them for the corresponding responsibilities, putting pressure on them to change direction.
As politics stands at the moment, it does not seem that this assumption of responsibilities can be political in a country where resignations are extraordinarily difficult, so perhaps we will have to think about mounting an immense social campaign, without distinction of color. politicians, to open a large judicial process where they are accused of serious negligence. Even given the importance of the consequences, of crimes against humanity.
This comment may seem harsh, but if the difference could be quantified between the consequences of taking now the forceful measures proposed by those who know about this and not taking them, we would probably not see it that way.
It also has easy verification. For example, comparing the data from December 1 to 14, with those from January 17 to 31, for example.
How many more infected people are going to occur? How many hospital and ICU admissions? And the most tragic thing: how many more deaths due to not having taken appropriate measures?
That is why we should make a new attempt in order to convey to Sánchez, Ayuso, Chivite, Urkullu, Torra and the rest, that, if they do not listen to the experts and make the tough decisions that the pandemic situation demands, if They continue with their plan that we could describe as genocidal, a campaign could be launched to put them all on the bench.
This approach may seem excessive, but we are talking about suffering and human lives.
I hope it is not necessary and just reading this reflection, if they reach the ground to read it, is enough for them to change.
A new warning, perhaps a last desperate cry.
We will see….
